About Detroit Pistons |
| |
After finishing his rookie season with a 27-55 record, head coach John Kuester Jr. is looking to bring the franchise back to greatness. Or at least the playoffs. President of basketball operations Joe Dumars promised a busy summer but the team has done little than pick up free agent Tracy McGrady and resign Big Ben to a two year deal.
In the 2010 NBA Draft, the team selected PF/C Greg Monroe of Georgetown with their first round selection (7th overall) and PG/SG Terrico White in the 2nd round (36th overall selection).
The Detroit Pistons began playing professional basketball as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons in the National Basketball League, winning two championships in 1944 & 45. The team then joined the National Basketball Association in 1949 and went to two NBA Finals as such in 1955 and 56, losing both times. The following season, in 1957, the franchise moved to Detroit, Michigan which facilitated a much larger market.
In Detroit, the team has prospered and gone on to win three more titles (1989, 1990 & 2004) as well as five conference titles (1955, 1956, 1988, 1898, 1990, 2004 & 2005) and fifteen Division Titles.
